Reading the Bible Again

Term 3 — Exile to Pentecost

Synthesis. The covenant spine end to end, the son thread gathered, and a reading plan to take home.

What we will do

We will walk the covenant spine from one end to the other along the timeline that has been growing across the wall all year: Noah, Abraham, Sinai, David, New.

Then the son thread, gathered in one movement. Adam the son. Israel the firstborn son. David's heir. And then Romans 8, Galatians 4, Ephesians 1 — adoption, Abba, sons and daughters out of every nation.

That is the thing the whole structure was built to show: a God who binds himself to people by covenant, generation after generation, because what he wants more than anything is a family.

Everyone leaves with a personal reading plan and a short stack of next books. We close with commissioning prayer rather than a summary.

Words

Before we meet

Read: Romans 8:14–17

Paul switches into Aramaic for one word. Ask why that word, and why he did not translate it.

Entirely optional. Come either way.

Bring what you find

Sit with this week’s passage and see what the Spirit shows you in it — a connection, a question, something that will not leave you alone, something you think the rest of us need to hear. That is not an interruption of the night. That is the night.

The subject above is the field we are working, and it is a real boundary. The Spirit who inspired these texts is the one who lights them up, and he does not compete with himself. What he gives will open this material further, not change the channel.

Send it ahead if you can, by replying to the message that brought you here. We open by hearing what the week turned up, before anybody explains anything.
