Jesus laid over the calendar from Session 11, straight through to the end.
The water and light ceremonies of Sukkot standing directly behind John 7–8. Once you know what was happening in the temple courts that week, 'I am the light of the world' stops being a general statement and becomes a specific, audacious one.
Hanukkah in John 10. The feast of dedication, and a question about whether he is the Messiah, asked at exactly that feast.
The Last Supper as a Passover meal with the pieces deliberately rearranged. And the cup of the covenant — every session on berit arriving at once.
Isaiah 53. The veil. Yom Kippur and atonement. Resurrection on the day of firstfruits.
And the goel who buys back what the family lost — a word we met in Ruth, fourteen weeks earlier, for exactly this moment.
Read: Luke 22:14–20
Count how many times the word 'covenant' appears, and what it is attached to.
Entirely optional. Come either way.
Sit with this week’s passage and see what the Spirit shows you in it — a connection, a question, something that will not leave you alone, something you think the rest of us need to hear. That is not an interruption of the night. That is the night.
The subject above is the field we are working, and it is a real boundary. The Spirit who inspired these texts is the one who lights them up, and he does not compete with himself. What he gives will open this material further, not change the channel.
Send it ahead if you can, by replying to the message that brought you here. We open by hearing what the week turned up, before anybody explains anything.
